R3 members have helped to save many businesses, large and small, across most industry sectors. They also advise on personal insolvency.
The Insolvency Service operates under a statutory framework – mainly the Insolvency Acts 1986 and 2000, the Company Directors Disqualifications Act 1986 and the Employment Rights Act 1996. As of 1st April 2006 Companies Investigation Branch of DTI transferred to The Service and is based in offices in both London and Manchester.

Federation of Small Businesses
The FSB is the largest campaigning pressure group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms. Formed in 1974, it now has over 205,000 members across 33 regions and 230 branches. On the member benefits side, it offers assistance and support 24 hours a day, while its lobbying arm – led by the Westminster Press and Parliamentary office – applies pressure on MPs, Government and Whitehall, lobbies politicians in their constituencies and puts the FSB viewpoint over to the media.

Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales
The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales is the largest and most influential accountancy body in Europe with 128,000 members running and advising businesses of all sizes across the entire span of economic activity.
In addition to having practitioners on virtually every high street, approximately 60% of members work outside traditional practice in a variety of business roles including the majority of FTSE 100 Finance Directors. I.P.A (Insolvency Practitioners Association) is a recognised professional body whose purpose is to inform and regulate Insolvency Practitioners within the UK and Ireland.
The Association was formed in 1961 as a discussion group of accountants specialising in insolvency. The Association’s members, in the main, act as trustees in bankruptcy, nominees and supervisors of voluntary arrangements, liquidators, administrators and administrative receivers of companies

The Chartered Institute of Taxation
The Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) is the leading professional body in the United Kingdom concerned solely with taxation. One of its key aims is to achieve a better, more efficient, tax system for all affected by it – taxpayers, advisors and the authorities.
The Institute was established in 1930 and received its Royal Charter in 1994. It enjoys a high international standing in taxation affairs and is a UK member body on the Confédération Fiscale Européenne (CFE), the umbrella body for 150,000 tax advisers in Europe.
The CIOT has a strong committee structure which carries out original work on such subjects as the study of tax legislation, international relations in the taxation field and tax training.
As part of its charitable activities, the CIOT also sponsors the Low Incomes Tax Reform Group which works to improve and simplify the tax system so as to make it more responsive to the needs of those who cannot afford to pay for tax advice.
